Field Operations Coordinator
Part-time | Kigali, with weekly travel to Bugesera
Reports to: VP of Programming

About The Community League
The Community League (TCL) is a fast-growing Pan-African sports and cultural organisation redefining what grassroots sports can look like. Through our pillars, Ukurikira (free community streetball runs), The REC (structured basketball leagues), The Lab (player training and development), The House League (youth basketball), and Events, we are building a sustainable street-to-elite pipeline for talent, culture, and community across Rwanda and beyond.
Ukurikira is scaling fast, now four runs a week and growing, with a new weekly run launching in Bugesera. As we grow, reliable on-the-ground execution is what makes every session happen. We are hiring a Field Operations Coordinator to be the engine behind that reliability.
Role Overview
The Field Operations Coordinator is the reliable on-site implementer of TCL programming. This person is the point of accountability at every session: they run Ukurikira as the staff lead once trained, direct the volunteer crew on the ground, and keep sessions flowing from setup to takedown.
No TCL session runs without a member of paid staff present, and at Ukurikira that person is usually you. It is what makes the session legitimate, not just staffed.
This is a field execution role built on reliability. If you commit to a session, you are there, on time, every time.
Key Responsibilities
- Run Ukurikira sessions on site: player check-ins, team queues on winner-stays-on, setup and takedown
- Serve as the on-site point of accountability, solving problems as they arise and reporting them
- Coordinate, schedule and lead the volunteer crew across sessions
- Hold the safety call as Site Lead, and make sure nobody leaves a venue without a way home
- Pick up, transport, set up and return equipment and banners
- Support The REC game nights on site, under the VP of Programming
- Travel to and run the weekly Bugesera session, which asks for real commitment given the distance
- Follow the session SOP and log verified attendance and session evidence
Who You Are
- Reliable above all else. Punctual, dependable, and present for every session you commit to
- Comfortable managing 60 to 80 players and a crowd, and calm under pressure
- A natural leader of volunteers who can direct a crew and keep a session organised
- Someone who cares about community sport, and about protecting the free, community-first feel of Ukurikira
Required
- Are you 18 or over?
- Do you have the right to work in Rwanda?
- Do you have reliable transport to get to sessions?
- Can you travel to and run the weekly Bugesera session?
- Can you hold a working conversation in both English and Kinyarwanda?
- Are you available across five days a week, including weekday evenings and weekends?
- This role involves lifting and moving equipment and being on your feet for a full session, several days a week. Can you carry out these tasks, with or without accommodation?
Plus
- Familiarity with basketball
- Prior experience running community events or programming
Where it leads
This is the seat every other operations role at TCL depends on, which makes it the clearest view of how the whole organisation runs. The Ops Associate reports into it, and the person who holds it well is the obvious candidate for programme management as TCL adds venues and programmes.
Safeguarding
This role works with under-18s every week. You are responsible for the safety of every young person in your sessions, and TCL runs a background check on everyone with that access. This role is 18 and over.
